How to Support our Mississauga Libraries on #GivingTuesday
“For over 25 years the Friends have been funding school trips to the library, author visits, and library renovations,” says FOL President Michael Jones. “For the thousands of children we help, it is important for residents to help the Friends, support our libraries, and donate today.”
MISSISSAUGA – Not new to Black Friday deals or Cyber Monday sales, Mississauga will be celebrating its second #GivingTuesday on November 29, 2016. The Friends of the Mississauga Library System (FOL) is one of registered charity groups actively campaigning on #GivingTuesday. The Friends will be reminding residents about the importance of literacy and supporting our libraries. For convenience, residents can find the Friend’s donation boxes by the checkout desk of any Mississauga Library branch. Alternatively, residents are encouraged to donate online on our secured website: www.folmississauga.ca. “We are also accepting books, new or collectible magazines, CDs, and DVDs,” says Jones. “They can be dropped off at any of our 18 library branches.”
“[The Friends] are making a significant impact in our community, and residents have the opportunity to show their support,” says Mississauga Gives’ Founder & Co-Chair, Nicole Danesi. “MississaugaGives is thrilled to have the Friends join us as one of our charity partners brining the GivingTuesday movement to the city of Mississauga.”
The Friends provides financial and material support to augment the services of the Mississauga Library System in its role as a cultural, educational and recreational resource for the benefit of the residents of Mississauga.
