Hurontario/Main Street Corridor Rapid Transit / Land Use / Urban Design
Feasibility Study - Class Environmental Assessment Master Plan

THE STUDY

The Hurontario/Main Street corridor is an important connection between Mississauga and Brampton. The purpose of this study is to conduct a comprehensive higher order transit (e.g. light rail transit, bus rapid transit), land use and urban design Feasibility/Master Plan study for the corridor from Port Credit in Mississauga to Brampton’s downtown at Queen Street. The study will establish the framework for the future enhancement of the Hurontario/Main Street corridor.

THE PROCESS

The environmental impact of this study is being assessed in accordance with the transit project assessment process under the Environmental Assessment Act. The project will satisfy the requirements for a Schedule C  undertaking of the Master Plan process as described in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) document (June 2000, as amended in 2007) prepared by the Municipal Engineers Association (MEA) and the supporting Codes of Practice issued by the Ministry of the Environment (MOE). The study will complete the first two phases of the Class EA process. A decision on whether to proceed to Phases 3 and 4 will be made at a later date with input from the public. The map identifies the study boundary of the project.

PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRES

Public consultation will be a vital component of this study. The purpose of the first Public Information Centre (PIC) is to provide background information on the study and engage the public about problems and opportunities along the Hurontario/Main Street corridor. The first PIC is being held in Mississauga and Brampton on the following dates. The same information will be presented at each PIC.
