Mississauga – Peel Regional Police wish to advise the public that Cawthra Road has been partially re-opened to vehicle traffic.
On Saturday, July 11, 2009, a storm system caused significant damage in some areas of Mississauga as it moved through the Region. As a result of the storm, Cawthra Road had 30 hydro electricity poles and numerous trees overturned.
One north-bound lane and one south-bound lane of Cawthra Road, between Third Avenue to the south and South Service Road to the north, has been re-opened. The other two lanes, one north and one south, will continue to be closed so that work crews can repair the damage caused by the storm.
Atwater Avenue will not be accessible from Cawthra Road. Drivers wishing to access Atwater Avenue must do so by other means.
Access to the Cawthra Arena and Community Center, along with the Mississauga Senior Center, will continue to be suspended.
Cawthra Park Secondary School will be accessible from Atwater Avenue, east of Cawthra Road.
Additional information on these closures can be found by calling (905) 615-4800, or visiting the City of Mississauga’s web site; www.mississauga.ca/portal/home .
