Starting April 5, 2010 certain types of electronics will no longer be collected at the curb.
As part of the Government of Ontario’s new Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) stewardship program, the Region of Peel is able to accept select electronics at its Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) for recycling.
Select electronics may also be taken to participating retailers. Visit dowhatyoucan.ca, choose “Enter Electronics” and search for the nearest collection site by municipality, postal code or material type.
Items no longer collected at the curb
Starting April 5, 2010 the following items will not be collected at the curb.
Bring these items to your local CRC or participating retailer for recycling, free of charge:
- Audio and video players
- Cameras
- Cellular phones
- Computer peripherals
- Desktop computers*
- Equalizers, (pre)amplifiers
- Laptop computers*
- Monitors
- PDAs and pagers
- Personal handheld computers
- Printing devices
- Radios
- Receivers
- Speakers
- Telephones and accessories
- Televisions
- Tuners
- Turntables
- Video players/projectors
- Video recorders
*As a security precaution to prevent possible identity theft, please ensure your computer’s hard drive is securely erased before drop off.
