Mississauga - Investigators from the Special Victims Unit are seeking the public's assistance in identifying and locating a male suspect wanted for a sexual assault.
On September 17, 2012, at approximately 11:00 a.m. the female victim was walking along the Hydro field near Indian Road and Lorne Park Road, in the City of Mississauga. The victim was approached by an unknown male who sexually assaulted her. She returned home and immediately contacted police.
Police searched the surrounding area, but were unable to locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as male, black, 18-24 years old, short curly hair, clean shaven, 5'6" tall, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a grey long sleeved t-shirt and slim fit blue jeans.

Peel - To meet the growing demand for crime data, Peel Regional Police has developed an external internet crime mapping application that will provide residents of Brampton and Mississauga with a graphic and interactive tool that provides a snap shot of crime in their neighbourhoods. The application was developed with input from various stakeholders including Safe City Mississauga, Brampton Safe City, Neighborhood Watch, PRP Crime Prevention Services, PRP Corporate Communications, and the PRP Information and Privacy Unit.
Similar applications have been developed and deployed by other law enforcement agencies across Canada including York Regional Police Service, Ottawa Police Service, Calgary Police Service and Edmonton Police Service.
Users of the application will be able to interactively map incidents based on several crime types for the last 30 days using a standard web browser. The map data is refreshed on a daily basis. The map will not display personal and/or specific address information of crime and strikes a balance between victims' privacy and the public's right to know about incidents affecting their communities.
The types of crimes that are searchable in the program are limited to the following:

Mississauga - Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau are appealing for witnesses to a train fatality that occurred in Mississauga.
On Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at approximately 4:28 p.m., a 17 year old Mississauga female was walking with a friend westbound along the train tracks, just east of the Port Credit Go Station.
The female was struck by a westbound Go Train and succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Mississauga - Officers from the Homicide Bureau are currently investigating an early morning altercation in the Hurontario Street and Dundas Street East area of Mississauga, which left a 23 year-old Brampton resident dead. This is Peel Regional Police's first homicide of 2012.
On Sunday, March 18, 2012, at approximately 1:45 a.m., police responded to a disturbance call. Upon arrival, police located the victim suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has since been identified as Jarvis MASCARENHAS.

14% FEWER VEHICLES INVESTIGATED; 24% INCREASE IN CHARGES AND 37% INCREASE IN ROADSIDE SUSPENSIONS
Peel - Peel Regional Police have completed their annual Festive R.I.D.E program, which ran from November 25, 2011, to January 1, 2012.
During this period, 249 motorists were charged with Criminal Code drinking and driving related offences, 20 of which included the offence of Failing or Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample to police. Another 286 motorists received Warn Range Suspensions under the authority of the Highway Traffic Act.
A strategic approach utilizing impaired arrest and collision data analysis once again proved an effective tool in this year's campaign.
Inspector Robert Orr, Officer - in - Charge of Traffic Services, said the number of people charged this year is troubling; it shows that education and enforcement remain essential. "I am very proud of all the hard work of our R.I.D.E. teams during this campaign. Unfortunately the numbers are a stark reminder that there are still motorists who choose to drink and drive, placing themselves and others at risk." he said. "We remain diligent year-round in our efforts to enforce impaired driving laws, and to keep our roads safe."

Peel Regional Police remind the public that R.I.D.E. programs continue to operate on a weekly basis throughout the Region. These programs are in addition to regular patrols and sobriety checks performed by our front line officers, who are out keeping the Region's roads safe for the community, 24 hours-a-day.
