BRAMPTON, ON. October 30, 2009 – Peel Public Health, Credit Valley Hospital, Trillium Health Centre and William Osler Health Centre report a dramatic surge in emergency department visits by people experiencing influenza-like symptoms but who could best manage their symptoms at home, with their family physician or at a walk-in clinic.

Associate Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa reminds Peel residents that hospital emergency departments are very crowded and should be used for emergency situations only.

BRAMPTON, ON (Oct. 22, 2009) - Peel Public Health is ready to begin vaccinating Peel residents against the pandemic H1N1 virus. Clinic dates, time and locations are posted on the H1N1 Flu Virus site. The vaccine will also be available at doctors’ offices soon.

The H1N1 vaccine is your best protection. You should get it. Residents are encouraged to attend an H1N1 clinic in their area or ask for the vaccine from their doctor. The vaccine is free for everyone.

Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for Lornewood Creek Sanitary Sewer From the Intersection of Streambank Drive and Saginaw Crescent to the Intersection of Queen Street West and Ibar Way, South of Cnr Tracks

The Study
A recent inspection of the Lornewood Creek Sanitary Sewer identified a need for possible relocation and/or remedial work. The Regional Municipality of Peel has retained Associated Engineering (Ont.) Ltd. to undertake a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to evaluate alternatives and identify the preferred solution to the Lornewood Creek Sanitary Sewer Improvements in the City of Mississauga. The study area is presented on the map.

The Mississauga News is reporting that at today's (October 8) meeting of Peel Regional Council "councillors gave a collective thumbs-up to a proposed bylaw allowing the Mississauga-based shopping centre to operate six extra days, including New Year’s Day, Family Day, Victoria Day and Thanksgiving."

The article concludes by stating "Square One now has to wait to see if there is any opposition to the bylaw before it can get an official stamp of approval.  If an appeal to the decision is filed, the matter could get tied up in arbitration and potentially be scrapped."

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Regional Municipality of Peel will hold a statutory public meeting and an open house, pursuant to Sections 3(15), 5 and 6 of the Ontario Regulation 543/06; Sections 26(3), 17(15) and 17(16) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.13, as amended, to discuss draft Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA) 25. ROPA 25 contains proposed policies on monitoring and conformity with the Planning and Conservation Land Amendment Act for the Regional Official Plan that may be required as part of the five-year Peel Region Official Plan Review.
