Mississauga, ON- After a week between games the Majors were able to win their sixth straight tonight, holding off the Peterborough Petes for a 4-3 victory. The win moves Mississauga to 11-3-0-0 on the season.

A slow start to the game resulted in a 1-0 lead for Peterborough when former Majors forward Justin Larson put the Petes ahead with just over a minute remaining in the opening period. The Majors came out stronger in the second period as the teams exchanged chances early on. Dustin Ekelman tied the game with a short-handed goal for the Majors. Forty-one seconds later Matt Puempel put Peterborough back in the lead with his power-play goal. The Majors turned up the intensity and started to dictate play which resulted in Rob Flick’s fifth goal of the season on the power-play to even the game again. Corey Bureau’s highlight reel goal in the dying seconds of the second put the Majors ahead for the first time on the night, 3-2 to end the period.

Blake Parlett’s goal just under six minutes into the third period put the Majors ahead by two. Petes forward Pat Daley scored on the power-play eight minutes later to pull Peterborough within one. Adam Sedlak’s checking from behind penalty with just over a minute remaining in the third ended any chance of the Petes forcing overtime. Chris Carrozzi turned aside 22 shots for Mississauga and picked up his sixth win on the season; while Peterborough goaltender Andrew D’Agostini made 27 saves for the Petes. D’Agostini takes the loss, his third of the season. Corey Bureau’s two point night earned him “First Star” honours, with Dustin Ekelman and Ryan Spooner collecting second and third honours respectively.

The win keeps the Majors within one point of the Barrie Colts in both the Central Division and Eastern Conference lead. The Majors will board the bus and head to Owen Sound to meet up with the Attack tomorrow night, and return home on Sunday afternoon for an afternoon affair with the Sudbury Wolves at 2:00 P.M.

The Majors will host the second annual “School Day Game” on Wednesday November 11, with a special pre-game ceremony beginning at 11:00 A.M. For information on Majors individual and season tickets for 2009-10, group and flex packages and private suites, visit the Majors website or call the Majors ticket line at 905-502-7788.
