It is that time of the year again and the Mississauga Football League is ready to take to the field! For over 40 seasons the Mississauga Football League has provided football programs for the youth of Mississauga.
But before they get on that field they are out in the community having a blast. So, we ask you what do Elmo, Spider-Man, Darth Vader and Strawberry Shortcake have in common with the Argos? They are among the fabulous prizes you can win during the MFL In-Person registration at Fee Fi Fo Fun on Saturday, May 5th from 2:00pm - 5:00 pm. Fe Fi Fo Fun is hosting this "Q & A" event where parents and future players can drop by with their questions, register to play and have a chance to win a few great prizes and giveaways. Fee Fi Fo Fun offers a year around selection of unique Birthday Gifts and Costume Wear and is located at 1842 Lakeshore Rd. W., 2 lights east of Southdown Road in Clarkson.
The Mississauga Football League is so excited about this coming season. Their recent addition of Flag Football for ages 7 - 12 is growing tremendously. Tackle Football, of course, is still the heart of their organization; for ages 9 - 17, equipment is supplied and no experience is needed.
The one point when talking to the MFL volunteers or players that always comes across loud and clear is that; "There is a place for everyone on their field!". After over 40 years on the field the MFL know football!

The kind folks at Budweiser Canada lied. They admit it right up front. But it was one of those 'little white lies' that had made for what's being billed as the best Super Bowl ad so far this year. And the lie took place right here at Port Credit Arena.
We first saw the ad on You Tube a few days ago when the hit counter had just rolled over 300. It now has 500K in its sights. (Update Feb 5: 1,589,171)
The story is that the production team told two local (shout out to the Generals and the Amigos!) beer league teams they were making a documentary film on recreational league hockey. That's the lie part. They followed the players as they loaded their cars, hit the rink and hit the ice.
We won't ruin the surprise...tune it above and see how it all plays out.
But get this: after all the years of not being able to see the American Super Bowl ads here, the Americans have got wind of this made-in-Port Credit one (which they won't be able to see Sunday) and the things gone viral on You Tube.
RENOVATIONS AT PORT CREDIT ARENA NOW EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN APRIL
The Mississauga News is reporting that continuing delays in the renovations at Port Credit Arena have resulted in the cancellation of the 13th Annual Port Credit Hockey Association "Coaches vs Coaches" game.
The game reportedly raises approximately $8,000 each year towards the MHL's "Play More" program which assists those children who wish to play hockey but may not have the financial resources to do so.
It seems like just a few weeks ago that players and fans of the Mississauga Football League took to the field for the 40th Season Championship Games at Gilbert Field, Mississauga Valleys Community Centre for a great day of football. For the many volunteers of the Mississauga Football League the season never really ends. Registration for the 2011 Season is already open with some great new programs being offered to our future CFL'ers!
This season the Mississauga Football League is expanding with Flag Football for the younger players. According to Jack Finley, President: "Full Tackle Football in the fall remains the focus of our program as it has for the past 40 Season but there have been many requests to get younger kids on the field. Flag football starting at 7 years of age will help them develop a feel for the game and the skills that they can carry through to our tackle program."
A Spring/Summer Flag program will be offered to the youth of Mississauga, ages 7 - 10 for $150. As well, Flag will be offered for 7 - 8 year olds in the fall along side the long standing tackle program for 9 - 17 year olds. Equipment is supplied by the league and no experience is necessary.
The Mississauga Football League is affiliated with the City of Mississauga Recreation and Parks Services. For more information on their programs visit www.M-F-L.ca or call 416-821-0132.
The Mississauga Football League is headed towards another great season.
